George Korten graduated from Cornell University School of Hotel Administration. For five years, he was the general manager of a number of popular West Side Ark restaurants, including Ernie’s, Perretti’s, Museum Café and Nanny Rose. In 1987, he opened his first restaurant, Mim’s in Syosset.
Two years later, George Martin opened in Rockville Centre, followed by Nick DiAngelo in Merrick and Max’s Grille & Tavern, also in Rockville Centre in the early 90’s. After a successful run, these restaurants were reinvented and a complete transformation was accomplished through the development of the Grillfire concept. Grillfire in Hanover, MD opened in July 2011. Our most recent endeavor has been the reinvention of Grillfire to George Martin 1989, at our Syosset location. This steakhouse-inspired American bistro offers an amazing menu composed by Executive Chef Chris Holt.
The GM Burger Bar concept was developed and our first location opened in July 2013 in Rockville Centre followed by its second location in Massapequa Park last summer. Join us at our third GM Burger Bar opening in Farmindale this coming Summer!
